Foul play ruled out in Hippolyte’s death, police confirm suicide

Police have ruled out foul play in the death of 34-year-old Talia Norma Hippolyte after a post-mortem examination confirmed that she died by suicide.

Hippolyte’s death was initially classified by investigators as a “suspected suicide” after her decomposing body was found in Pomme, Augier, on May 4.

A post-mortem examination, conducted four days later, determined the cause of death to be “complete hanging”.

Superintendent of Police Stephen Victorin, Officer in Charge of the Southern Division, told St Lucia Times that investigators found no evidence to suggest anyone else was involved in her death.

“There were no signs of sexual or other physical violence perpetrated against the body of Talia Norma Hippolyte,” he explained.

His comments come amid concerns raised by some members of the public following the discovery of Hippolyte’s body, with questions emerging about whether there could have been another explanation for her untimely death.

Victorin said those concerns were taken seriously and formed part of a thorough investigation conducted by police in collaboration with the Forensics Unit.

According to the senior officer, the investigation was conducted specifically to determine the circumstances surrounding Hippolyte’s death and to address suggestions of possible foul play.

  1. Despite not knowing this lady or her situation, I’m afraid I have zero confidence in the ‘thorough investigations’ carried out by our Police Force…….

  2. At DEstiny Angle- What is there not to have confidence in? Everything is not a conspiracy theory. Maybe if the public had less nonesense to talk and applied logic we would be a better nation. Who would have been able to carry a woman who clearly weighed in excess of 140 IIbs so high up a tree? Logical alone would prove that would not have been a simple task. IF one group of persons say the police do a rubbish job, another group will just jump in and swallow. Sad..Well done team.
