Police Report Successes From Crime Hotline Tips – Urge Continued Support After Vieux Fort Homicides

The island recorded a total four homicides over the Easter weekend, spanning from Saturday, April 8, 2023 to Sunday, April 9, 2023.

About 7:15p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2023, officers attached to the Southern Division were alerted to a shooting at Cedar Heights, Vieux Fort, where 18 (eighteen) year old Adan Mc Farlan was fatally shot in a drive by incident.

Shortly thereafter, officers were summoned to the scene of a second shooting in Westhall Group, Vieux Fort where they later confirmed there were two fatalities.

Tara Joseph 47 (forty-seven) years old and Kentrell Joseph 2 (two) years old sustained gunshot injuries about their bodies, after unknown assailants shot into the residence they occupied.

On Sunday, April 9, 2023, officers responded to a shooting at Bruceville, Vieux Fort, where a medical practitioner confirmed the victim, Nicole Charles 47 (forty-seven) years old of Bruceville, Vieux Fort, succumbed following the incident.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force maintains a presence in the southern sector of both local and regional personnel (Regional Security System), as well as sustained police operations in the Southern division.

Several arrests have been effected during the surge of gun violence in the area, which have resulted in the commencement of judicial proceedings in relation to Homicides, Possession of Firearms and Ammunition and other serious offences.

We continue to realize successes with information being transmitted via the Crime Hotline (555) and other avenues, which have not only lead to arrests, but averting criminal acts, which have been critical in our efforts to avoid further loss of life.

We wish to implore members of the public to continue supporting our crime fighting efforts and encourage others to contribute meaningfully in our nationwide fight against crime. As we are currently observing, no one is immune from crime and its effects.

We also wish to extend condolences to the impacted families and remind the general public that the only real solution is one that encompasses efforts by us all.

  1. Seriously??? “Police Report Successes From Crime Hotline Tips …”. Well, I’ll be darned! If this is what success looks like, I hope we never become a failed State!

  2. Well done!!! But I have some reservations the person or persons listening to the calls must ensure they don’t reveal anything to the Marigot and Anse La Raye police. If they do these police will soon call Yannick at Bois den and reveal to him. We at Boisden have no confidence in the Anse La Raye police. Last Saturday police was called for Yannick who was bursting shots when the police came they blame the people around and never attempt to search Yannick. Madam Commissioner investigate this.

  3. are you saying that you received successful information in getting those responsible for the shootings last weekend? if so thats a great job people have to be fed up with these want to be bad boys

  4. “We continue to realize successes with information being transmitted via the Crime Hotline (555) and other avenues, which have not only lead to arrests, but averting criminal acts, which have been critical in our efforts to avoid further loss of life.”

How is this measured ? Where are the concrete evidence to make such a statement ? Is that another political game designed by Pierre ?

This cannot be successful in SLU – Stop lying to the people. Tell the people the truth – come on.

  5. By all means we must get these criminals off the streets, especially this scum bag who was heartless enough to kill this helpless 2 year old. My heart bleeds to think of a little innocent child like this having bullets put through his little body. How could someone have been so cold hearted! Too much blood ah run!

  6. @lydia pierre thats why the 555 hotline is there if you cant trust the marigot or anse la raye police call the 555 hotline because if you dont most times he kills a two year old with that nonsense he is doing

  7. That’s really what you call success. How many people have been apprehended as a result? How many crimes have been averted as a result? Then I ask, how many have been tipped off and gone in hiding before the squad arrives? How many moved stashes of guns and ammunition before the search party arrived. Then when the RSS leaves how many will meet their demise for giving information to 555? Don’t mistake a successful surgery with placing a bandaid plaster on deep penetrating wound.
