Vybz Kartel Warns Young People To Stay Far From Trouble

Currently in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines undergoing treatment for Graves’ disease, Jamaican dancehall entertainer Vybz Kartel has urged young people to stay far from trouble and ‘negative energy’.

He warned that prison or death would result from not avoiding trouble.

Kartel was recently freed from prison after judges decided he should not face a retrial for murder.

The Jamaican entertainer said he did not wish prison, which he described as ‘real hell’, on anyone.

“Ah real hell dat,” he declared.

Kartel said he did not know what the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines prison was like.

However, he stated he was sure it was not a five-star hotel.

“Right boss?” Kartel asked, turning to Vincentian Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, in whose presence he spoke.

Gonsalves, who sat next to the entertainer, nodded.

The Vincentian Prime Minister posted a video of Kartel’s remarks on his Facebook page.

“I fully endorse this message,” Gonsalves wrote.

  1. How can you make these comments and your music is still out there encouraging violence. Then call for a ban on your music

  2. As someone who is a fan of Kartel’s music I can’t remember the last time I heard a song promoting violence– sex yes, vulgarity yes, but the violence in music these days is from the Trinibad genre and the newer dancehall artistes. However, if you can name one recent/current song of his that promotes violence/gangsta living/trouble (outside of the bedroom ie) let me know I want to listen

  3. Well well well Oh Really there you. Oh I am beginning to understand you more and more why you nothing but a mare “Simpleton “ you overgrown clown ……if you took the time, just a fraction…maybe a millisecond of your time to LEARN by listening to the artist and his catalog of artistry you would hear and see many uplifting songs that’s directed a geared towards youth uplift and development they are not all “lewd and crude“ as you may believe. For you I would recommend School or High school dropout….better yet u tube it and I am sure you will be impress. Those records as far as I am concerned should be playing this time of year 24hrs per day. I believe the ministry of education should adopt these records as their theme song. The question what you should be asking is, if he has so many positive music aim at youth development stay in school stay out of trouble etc why don’t they get the air play MORE and the gangster ones do ? This is part of the misconception and miseducation ( you been exhibit A of course) to make believe dancehall music is all bad when it’s not.

  4. @Lowgrade, based on your nonsensical comment I must have wasted many, many years in the education system. You are not fooling anyone, I know his song very well. The few uplifting songs for the ghetto yute does not replace all of the filth he has financially benefitted from. There are better examples of artists who sing uplifting music.

  5. @Classic Oh Really…….Ha! You listening to Kartel ha ha hahaha. Oh Really please come to terms with your inner demons..,….we know your bigoted and narcissistic values wont allow you to broaden your horizon to the likes of Vybz Kartel..….let me be the first to break it to you pal Elvis is dead; yes dead more than 40yrs ago, also the Dobbie Brothers broke up. Yes and benefited he did and is still doing one publication stated he is been payed close to US 4 mil for his first show…..yeah how sweet the filth is boy I am in the wrong business.

  6. Y’all hypocritical MFs … Smh
Y’all Short memory having enablers… Smfh
Y’all Selective memory having manipulators.. smgdh

Kartel ain’t no saint… Nor is he a demon.
His music … Like most artists have range…. From violence to inspirational. Before he went to prison his public image was one of a gangster… After prison, it appears it’s now one of peace maker.

His music is entertaining and the man is indeed talented. Maybe this prison experience has changed him and his outlook on life. If he is giving out positive messages to his fans… that is just great. We in the Caribbean need all the help we can with handling the rising crime.

    The questions are
    1) do we let a man’s past define his future?
    2) does the old saying “The Messenger is not important only the message is” still apply in this situation?
    3) is the music influencing the crime or is the crime influencing the music ?
    4) what kind and quality of music, if any, can we expect from him in the future.

  7. I can never understand how people blindly support people they have little connection to. This man isn’t even proud of his skin colour, to the point where his bleaching probably made him sick.

    1. I will judge him until he shows real change, not just a couple words, that means nothing to me.

    2. What message are you talking about, what is his message?

    3. Of course his music influences crime, have you forgotten about Gaza and Gully. We have 6 & 7 today. Lyrics to a famous Kartel song Kill Dem:

Don’t grab yuh gal, mi follow har
Wen she go pick up yuh little bwoy
Like scarface wid di bomb me drive behind har
Him neva dweet but me nuh care who inna di car.

    4. Quality, music can be high quality and still be full of vulgar lyrics.

Stop following lowlifes and go support your family members and people who do good work in your community.

  8. @Oh Really , Oh Really, Oh Really, there, there, there, you notice I stated your “bigoted narcissistic values “ need i say more ……….along with your anti dancehall/Jamaica phobia just oozing thru your Red Neck Archie Bunker pores. Some people bleach their black skin to detach from the man in the mirror, some (such as yourself) adopt the house negro Uncle Tom persona. Hey Oh Really I bet my last dollar you love a Donald Trump yeeeah that’s your bawy….even with convictions (34) more than Kartel you would love to be that lone Negro standing behind him edging him on at podium during his rallies yeeeeah that’s who you are. Gaza & Gully….. you are still stuck there pal ??? Oh well Only you, that’s so yesteryear folks has moved on, he was locked up for the he past 13 years he has not performed once since his release as yet and you have not mentioned nothing about his “newly released music which he sings of nothing of what you refer to“ WHY ?? Because your bigoted narcissistic values wouldn’t allow you to broaden your horizon to the likes of Vybz Kartel as stated above you are just our own St Lucia’s Archie Bunker. Now where is Edith; I mean Mae ? Mae Honey Boo I love yoooooou.

  9. @Lowgrade, you know nothing about me. Those two lowlifes Trump and Kartel will pay for all their sins one day, hopefully soon. I cannot understand the way you think, it ridiculous how you stand up for such a person. Just like Trump, Vybz Kartel has had a negative influence on many weak and impressionable minds and until I see something solid and different from him I will not change my mind and nothing you ever say will.
