Saint Lucia Fire Service Gets Four New Ambulances

The Government of Saint Lucia has kept its promise to bolster the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS).

The Philip J. Pierre administration delivered four new ambulances during a handover ceremony on Thursday.

The ambulances will serve fire stations in Gros Islet, Castries, Micoud, and Vieux Fort, for enhanced emergency response capabilities across the island.

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre, who was present at the ceremony, emphasised the government’s commitment to supporting the SLFS.

“Today we handed over four new ambulances to the Saint Lucia Fire Service, which will be distributed to key stations across the island,” Pierre stated in his Facebook Post. He further expressed gratitude to the dedicated men and women of the SLFS, adding that additional equipment has been ordered and expected to be delivered in the coming months.

The move is part of a broader plan to improve the capacity and morale of the SLFS. On October 3, 2023, Parliament met to approve a loan at concessionary rates aimed at enhancing the resilience of the fire service.

Prime Minister Pierre outlined the government’s vision during the parliamentary session, stating, “We are going to Parliament today to look for fire engines, to look for four ambulances, to help the emergency services. We want to improve the morale of the members of the fire services. We are focused.”

The delivery of the four ambulances represents a key milestone in this plan, as the government continues its efforts to equip the SLFS with the necessary tools and training to improve emergency response and overall healthcare for the people of Saint Lucia.
