Following his 2023 victories in the Soca Monarch competition and Most Exportable Song, Imran Nerdy is doubling down on his momentum. As both an artist and Saint Lucia’s Carnival brand ambassador, he’s dropping new tracks, eyeing this year’s Soca Monarch titles and amplifying his island’s sound on global stages.
“[The year] 2024 was honestly a journey,” Nerdy reflects. “Coming off the high of 2023, I felt like I had something to prove, not just to others, but to myself.”
That drive is fuelling his creative output. His 2025 single Fine Wine kicked off the season with “elegance and groove”, earning a strong reception, while his fiery collaboration with Invasion Band, We Di Vibe on the Culture Connect Riddim, showcases his versatility.
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with producers like Wetty Beatz, Minor Productionz, Dazzle Music, and of course my own team at Rapid Entertainment,” he shares.
But Nerdy isn’t just focused on the studio; he’s also preparing to battle for both the Groovy and Power Soca Monarch crowns. “I’ve always loved the challenge of both styles,” he says. “Groovy lets me connect deeply with the crowd, while Power is all about energy, stamina, and commanding the stage. I’ve got something in the works that I’m really excited about.”
His performances, both at home and abroad, continue to solidify his reach. “Locally, the love has been real. Saint Lucia shows up in ways that humble me every time,” he says. Overseas, he’s brought Lucian pride to London and US stages, though he admits, “Nothing beats the vibes at home. That raw, unfiltered love? That’s sacred.”
As Carnival brand ambassador, Nerdy embraces his role with passion. “It’s a blessing to represent something as vibrant as Saint Lucia Carnival,” he says. “From the costumes to the music to the people, we’re unmatched. And to know I’m part of telling that story? That’s something I carry with pride.”
Looking ahead to 2025, Nerdy plans to expand his international presence, invest in mentoring young artists and keep pushing Saint Lucian talent into the spotlight. “It’s about growth, learning, and levelling up,” he says–and for this soca star, the climb is just beginning.
