Suspected drowning at Five Dollar Beach claims young man’s life

On September 25, 2025, at about 5:00 a.m., the Gros Islet Police Station received a report of a suspected drowning near the Five Dollar Beach, Cas En Bas.

Responding officers discovered the motionless body of 20-year-old Keishon Felicien of St. John Street, Gros Islet, along the shoreline. He was later pronounced dead at the scene by a medical practitioner.

Preliminary information from a witness revealed that on September 24, 2025, around 8:00 p.m., the deceased and two others set out in a canoe to draw fishing nets off the shore. While doing so, the canoe was struck by a wave and overturned. The witness indicated that while the others managed to swim safely to shore, Felicien experienced difficulties in the water. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

Investigations into this matter remain ongoing.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force extended condolences to the family and friends of Keishon Felicien.
