Jn Charles edge home at Augier Combined sports

For the first time in five years, Jn Charles House tasted victory at the Augier Combined School track meet as athletes from the defending District 6 champions strutted their stuff on Wednesday, February 11, at the school grounds.

St Jour were dethroned, losing by five points to Jn Charles who overcame a 16-point deficit at the start of the day.

St Jour led with 257 points ahead of the track finals, leading Jn Charles (241), Surage (206), and Louis (178). After the individual events, that lead had been whittled to just three points, as St Jour had 564, and Jn Charles 561.

But a staunch effort from the boys and girls in yellow saw them surge ahead in the relays to total 689 points. St Jour fell five points shy on 684, with Surage on 583, and Louis on 504.

The top Under-13 boy was 2025 District 6 victor ludorum Theon William of Jn Charles, who got three gold medals. Millie Alexander had three gold medals and a bronze.

In the Under-9 class, Heaven Cenac of Jn Charles got four gold medals among the boys, whilst Isa Jn Baptiste of Surage was the outstanding girl with three gold medals.

Naomi Louis topped the Under-9 girls for Jn Charles with two gold medals. Her male counterpart, Dervon Cornibert of St Jour, also took two firsts.

The Grade 1 awards were shared among the girls. Jada Actille of Jn Charles and Kalani Adjayeb of St Jour each took a gold and a silver. Terry Paul of Jn Charles was the outright winner for the boys, with gold and bronze.

The kindergarteners also got in on the act, Naomi Charlemagne winning two events for Jn Charles girls, and Trevon Wilfred of St Jour capturing gold and silver.

The Special Olympic award went to Pison Nicolas, and students and parents were treated to live performances from the school cheerleading squad and an exhibition cycling race conducted by the Saint Lucia Cycling Association. Six students from the school took part in this activity.
