Julien Alfred ran a season-best 10.87 seconds into a slight headwind to win Tuesday’s Gyulai István Memorial, finishing ahead of Tina Clayton and Elaine Thompson-Herah.
The three athletes ran into a slight headwind of -0.3 metres per second, with warm and dry conditions at Budapest’s National Athletics Centre.
Clayton, the 2025 World Championships silver medallist in this event, appeared to have had the best start. But Alfred quickly caught up and powered through the finish, her sixth straight win this season.
Clayton finished in 10.97 seconds. Fellow Jamaican Brianna Lyston took third with 11.01, just three hundredths of a second ahead of multiple Olympic champion Thompson-Herah, who placed fourth.
Also in Budapest, Gabby Thomas won the 200m in 21.83 seconds. The American ran 21.84 last weekend in Monaco, while Alfred clocked a blistering 21.51 to win, the third-fastest time ever for that distance.
Alfred and Thomas will face each other again this weekend in London.
