A three-member team from the Saint Lucia Amateur Bodybuilding and Fitness Association is coming home with two top-three finishes and a top-six spot from the 53rd Central American and Caribbean Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships, which ended on Sunday night in Guatemala City, Guatemala.
Team Saint Lucia won two bronze medals at the Gimnasio Teodoro Palacios Flores in Guatemala City. SLABFFA President Eugene Gabriel led the national team at the regional event, which Saint Lucia will host in 2025.
Denver Florent captured third place in the senior men’s bodybuilding category on Saturday to open the medal count for the country, earning a podium spot on his debut.Â
Shanii Mesmain then earned a bronze medal in the men’s fit model class, behind competitors from The Bahamas and Guatemala. He reached the finals in the men’s physique over 1.76m and placed sixth overall.
Mesmain, who is also a cricketer of note in domestic circles, returned to the regional stage after making his CAC debut in 2024 in Georgetown, Guyana. There, the Soufrierian placed seventh in the men’s silver fitness challenge.Â
Firefighter and former national track athlete Jerren St Clair competed in the men’s fitness division. His final placement will be announced once the regional confederation publishes the results. This was St Clair’s first time at the CAC Championships in Guatemala.
Gabriel also marked his first CAC competition as association president after previously serving as vice president and coach in Guyana.
The two bronze medals in 2026 follow Saint Lucia’s six medals in Guyana in 2024 and its hosting of the 52nd championships in Rodney Bay in 2025.
