GraceKennedy Foods (GK Foods) has announced a voluntary recall of specific batches of its Grace Tropical Rhythms Fruit Punch 1L distributed in Saint Lucia and six other Caribbean markets.
The company said the recall relates to a product-quality issue and is not a food-safety concern. GK Foods said no adverse health effects are expected from consumption of the affected product and that it has received no reports of illness or other adverse health effects associated with its consumption.
The recall applies to products bearing either of the following best-before codes on the top of the package:
BB JUL 21 27 L6
BB JUL 22 27 L6
The affected markets are Saint Lucia, Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Turks and Caicos Islands, and St Maarten.
GK Foods said the recall is limited to the identified batches and markets and does not apply to other batches of Grace Tropical Rhythms Fruit Punch 1L or products distributed in other markets.
According to GraceKennedy Foods CEO Andrea Coy, the company was recalling the affected batches as a precaution.
“The quality of our products and the trust consumers place in Grace are extremely important to us. While this is primarily a quality issue, we are voluntarily recalling the affected batches as a precaution and to ensure that the products available to our consumers continue to meet the standards they expect from Grace,” Coy said.
She said the company is working with distributors and retailers in the affected markets to remove the products as quickly as possible.
Coy also apologised to consumers and customers for any inconvenience caused by the recall.
Consumers who have Grace Tropical Rhythms Fruit Punch 1L bearing either of the identified codes are advised not to consume the product and to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund or replacement.
