A social media video from an unidentified source unlawfully using the logo and name of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is circulating in English-speaking Caribbean countries as a “Public Warning Alert” on COVID-19 vaccination in children.

PAHO would like to inform the public that the message does not reflect the position of the Organization, and that it contains false and defamatory information regarding PAHO’s activities, projects, and funding.

Furthermore, the misinformation contained in the video that COVID-19 vaccines are dangerous to children, cause infections and can lead them to become sterile is not based on scientific evidence.

If this misinformation is followed by parents and guardians, children’s health will be put at serious risk.

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus and can lead to severe disease in people at any age, especially those with underlying medical conditions. The virus has caused over 17,500 deaths in English-, Dutch- and French-speaking Caribbean countries and territories since 2020.

COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective, and provide strong protection against serious illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19.

PAHO’s COVID-19 vaccination strategy follows the advice of World Health Organization (WHO) Strategic Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) on Immunization and PAHO’s Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for Vaccines and Immunization in the Americas.

SAGE and TAG comprise independently appointed experts who review the clinical evidence on vaccine safety and effectiveness before making a recommendation.

Both currently recommend that people get vaccinated against COVID-19 to prevent severe disease and death, with vaccines approved under WHO Emergency Use Listing (EUL).

SAGE and TAG recommend that countries must achieve at least 70% coverage with a primary vaccination series among the general population and 100% in high-risk priority groups.

PAHO reiterates the importance of implementing comprehensive COVID-19 vaccination strategies to reach these targets.

The Organization is working with Caribbean Governments and other partners to inform the population of the Caribbean and to encourage mothers to protect their children with the COVID-19 vaccine.

PAHO condemns the unauthorized and fraudulent use of its name and logo to spread any misinformation.

  1. up to now they have not put anything saying what the vaccines have also done to people people who have died and also who have been paralised. i know its a few people but the fact is it still happens also how do they know that this wont make the children sterile

  2. COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — Scandinavian authorities on Wednesday suspended or discouraged the use of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine in young people because of an increased risk of heart inflammation, a very rare side effect associated with the shot.

  3. MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay –

Uruguay stopped administering coronavirus vaccine to children under age 13 after a judge ordered on Thursday that all inoculations in that age group halt until officials present documents relating to contracts signed with vaccine manufacturers.

Judge Alejandro Recarey issued the injunction under a petition filed by a lawyer who represents a group of anti-vaccine activists.

  4. Dear PAHO that I really unfortunate. Nevertheless, as students in the department of nursing at SALCC I believe every attempt is be made to rob us of our sanity. I believe deliberate attempt are being made for we to graduate as patients rather than nurses. The administration of the department of nursing is the catalyst in my opinion.

  5. Well the reverse replies too ie how do the anti vaxxers know that it does cause sterility???Presumably none of the children are in the “breeding” age range. People have died and have had serious side effects from various Covid vaccines often due to underlying conditions. HOWEVER given the amount of vaccines that have been dispensed throughout the world, we have not seen millions of deaths from them, but there have been millions of deaths from Covid. Compare these numbers! Because of a blood clotting disorder, I could not take Astrazeneca which was all that was available at the beginning of the pandemic in my country. I do not like the (untested at the time) mRNA technology of Pfizer & other vaccs and waited for Novavax. I have had three vacs now (all Novavax) and have had no side effects whatsoever. I am autoimmune, and if I contracted Covid, it would most likely cause serious health issues and possible death for me. I did my research, and believe I made the right decision. Everyone should weigh up the risks, and base their decision on that – not listen to conspiracy theories and hearsay. BTW I don’t believe children should be given mRNA vacs at all.

  6. PAHO on the whole is fraudulent and will continue lying for pharmaceuticals because they are paid by them. Do not believe anything PAHO say.

  7. Umm no. You believed the Covid lies. The death rate from covid is even less than the average flu season. Now all highly vaxxed countries are seeing big increases in excess mortality. Haven’t you seen all the athlete deaths? And doctor deaths? It was all lies. Now ask yourself, why would they lie to you to get you to inject some experimental medicine in your body.

A new study on Covid-19’s infection fatality rate (IFR) by age from a team led by Dr. John Ioannidis, the world’s most-cited physician, estimates that Covid’s IFR in the pre-vaccine era was under 0.1% for those under 70—even lower than previously believed.

Dr. Ioannidis et. al. found that across 31 national seroprevalence studies in the pre-vaccine era, the median IFR was 0.0003% at 0-19 years, 0.003% at 20-29 years, 0.011% at 30-39 years, 0.035% at 40-49 years, 0.129% at 50-59 years, and 0.501% at 60-69 years. This comes out to 0.035% for those aged 0-59 and 0.095% for those aged 0-69.
