St. Lucia Times has received video footage from the scene of a motor vehicle-pedestrian collision confirmed to have occurred in Cas En Bas on Friday evening, September 18.
The Saint Lucia Fire Service confirmed that its personnel responded to the collision at approximately 5:40 pm on Friday.
According to preliminary information from the Fire Service, three people sustained injuries in the collision, including two minors and one adult.
In the footage, two students, a male and a female still in school uniform, can be seen lying on the ground with visible injuries.
The Fire Service confirmed to St. Lucia Times that the male student sustained “a crushing injury to his left leg and deformity to the other”. He was subsequently transported to a medical facility for advanced care.
The female student sustained a possible femur and pelvic fracture, according to the Fire Service. She was also transported to a medical facility for advanced care.
The adult male sustained head trauma, described by the Fire Service as a minor avulsion, but refused transfer to a medical facility.
The incident has prompted concerns among residents in Cas En Bas and neighbouring communities about driving practices, with calls for motorists to exercise greater caution.
Further circumstances surrounding the collision have not yet been officially confirmed.
