Fire Destroys House At Gros Islet

spot_img

On Thursday, a wooden house went up in flames at East Winds, Gros Islet.

Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) Communications Officer Stacy Joseph said the Gros Islet fire station responded after receiving a distress call at about 10:10 am.

Joseph disclosed that the fire did not affect any other properties, and there were no reports of injuries.

Just this week, the fire department warned citizens to be on guard against house fires, noting that there’s usually an upsurge during the holiday season.

The SLFS has responded to more than 700 fires this year.

Ninety-eight of the fires were structural, while twenty-nine were electrical.
