9-Year-Old ‘In Great Spirits’ Despite Injury From Vieux Fort Gun Violence

A nine-year-old boy, injured in the gun violence that claimed the lives of two men and a woman on Thursday in Vieux Fort, was ‘in great spirits’ despite the incident, his mother has disclosed.

Nevertheless, the mother said her son was still traumatised.

She indicated that a doctor informed her that bullet particles grazed the youngster’s ear.

The Vieux Fort resident told MBC Prime that the boy was sitting at a table with his books.

“This is very sad. I mean, we all grew up together. We are one family in Vieux Fort and we need to be united right now,” the mother stated.

She urged perpetrators of violent crime in the Southern town to put down their guns and turn to Christ.

Speaking on Friday to MBC Prime, the mother observed that most businesses in Vieux Fort had closed due to the gun violence upsurge in the community.

“Everybody is afraid,” she explained.

“A stray bullet can put you down so fast,” the mother asserted.

She described Vieux Fort as one of the best towns in Saint Lucia and urged those responsible for the gun violence to let the community rise again.

However, the mother lamented that everyone is currently afraid of Vieux Fort.
