Nancy Charles Says People Looking Forward To The UWP’s Return To Office

Stating that many people regret voting the Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) into office at the July 26, 2021, general elections, United Workers Party (UWP) Mobilisation Officer Nancy Charles has declared that the electorate is looking forward to her party’s return to government.

She asserted that people could barely survive due to the high cost of fuel and groceries.

In addition, the UWP official observed that Saint Lucia has a lot of unemployment.

“You have a lot of persons on the ground who are regretting the decision to elect the Saint Lucia Labour Party and they are looking forward to the United Workers Party coming back into power,” Charles told reporters on Thursday.

She explained that over 39,000 people voted for the UWP.

“We have a lot of supporters on the ground,” Charles told reporters.

And she said party members and supporters are very excited.

The UWP recently held its delegates conference, which returned Allen Chastanet unopposed as the leader.

The party’s convention in April will ratify the decision and the other nominations to the UWP executive.

Charles expressed that the UWP would emerge from the convention bigger, better, stronger, and united, ready to take on the labour party.

  1. As long as recycle material and corrupt elements are in there no chance to return.
    BBC: “Bring back corruption”
We need to flush them out Nancy. Open you eyes and stop pretending.
The evidents are there and still being uncovered.

  2. You all politicians worst than roaches . Where did you come from lol and what was your purpose again ?? Wha sad for our country to see we have the same recycled losers trying again and again smh .

  3. Oh my God! What a dope. So the UWP will bring down the price of goods? Really, well I have heard lots of people on crack cocaine talk shit but not like you Nancy. You telling me or making me believe that the St.Lucian voters want to bring back what they all fight to abolished slavery. (Slaves obey your earthy masters) Not so fast. You can’t sweetened the ocean it’s already salty. Can’t fool people all the time. I guess it’s your opinion and you are talking for the minority who seems can’t talk for themselves.

  5. No, Nancy Charles, people are not looking forward to the return of the UWP. That would be a return to what exists. They’re looking for better governance than what they currently have but UWP does not offer that. So please go away, you are part of the problem.

  6. Keeping Allen Chastanet as the Leader of the UWP is the best thing for the party and St. Lucia by extension. This means that the SLP will remain as the Government because the opposition kept the same failed captain, the same failed players and the same failed policies. The electorate will have an easy decision to make at the next elections.

  7. While we don’t want the crooks in office we really really wish that you cooks extraordinaire will never be reelected. With Chastanet and that Guy at the helm, Saint Lucia finish. Oh how I wish we had a third political party. And that’s why I am voting the Green Party next election.

  8. I am one of those who regret voting SLP. I’ll be honest I won’t vote UWP but SLP won’t get my vote next time either. I’ll be a non-voter. Many SLPs like myself share that sentiment. SLP has been too blatant in their disregard for their supporters. They could call you before elections and ask your support and give you certain instructions on things their want you to do for them, call radio talk shows, protest, make Facebook posts etc..now they’ve forgotten your number or name. Too many became.politcally exposed for them and today it’s those who hid in the back reaping the rewards. Like I said they can never get my vote again…

  9. Hmmmmmm whatever if the likes of you that will make up The UWPEES a landslide again is forthcoming. Where do they get this notion of “a
lot of people ‘ that’s why they were so shocked by their “over confidence” when they lost; my my my haven’t learned anything I see. Oh well learn again you will. I don’t know what magic they are expecting Allan to pull out of his glad bag when St Lucia is suffering because of his careless mishandling of the economy all of us in the OCES are under the IMF . I wonder if Her Yellowness ever looked at St Lucia’s debt and where they have place this country and it’s people under Allan Chastanet over the last 4 yrs ?? O hell no she don’t care tourism will fix it, Tourism will fix it, tourism will fix it

  10. Actually no. We want neither of your garbage political parties running the country. The silent majority sees through the red and yellow tribal games y’all play but unfortunately we have no viable options beyond that. When the generation of old stupid party hacks go to the grave then perhaps another option will become available. Until then St. Lucia is doomed. Let those old party hacks go to their graves with the comfort that they took the country down with them.

  11. We are ? I did not get that memo. Nancy wants them back in power to make her big money. Let United Wreckers of The Poor stay in their section.

  12. I voted SLP of my choice. I am not asking any thing in return. I survive without political favors . If you support a party does not mean you require something in return.

High time we think more construct.

  13. Right now – right now, what are you Nancy Charles doing? What are you qualified in? Why should you have gotten paid all these monies when you were not qualified? Actually the only ppl longing for UWP’s return are people like you.

  14. Judging by the comments made here I am left to believe that the SLP has let you all down so you are venting your frustrations on the UWP. Fear not, when we return to office after the general election, you will ALL be feeling much better. In the meantime time, you have my sympathy

  15. With rising costs of goods in the supermarket, high cost of cooking gas and gas at the pumps under this government, St Lucians are waiting with bated breath for the return of the UWP to make life more bearable for their families. Shortages of sugar and other goods have become the norm, crime is out of control and people are living in fear. The condition of our riads is deplorable and there is little or no megical supplies at our hospitals sndpoly clínica. Supporting a party is one thing but doing so blindly is ridiculous. St Lucians, wake up and smell the coffee.

  16. So Nancy why you all did not enact a minimum wage ,or a livable wage. The people put Flambeau in power yet still they did not enact a livable wage . To cushion the inflation that we have been experiencing but the loo gave t o ah king land , gave carbot our nic money and gave sandals 24 million .. So you think that the people are so stupid to bring the loo back in office

  17. Note well that for the past 4 elections the St.Lucian electorate have given every elected government only 1 term in office/power

  18. Yes Nancy but not under Chastanet, Guy and Dominic, never in history. These are rejected politician we don’t want them again. Chas cannot say what he did with the 863 million dollars he borrowed.

  19. We UWPs are above that nonsense talk you’ll have going on there.next election….17-0 in you’ll pie hole.

  20. @ Jinette.
Take some quality time and review the financial behavior of the UWP leader when he and that guy was at the helm. Just two instances of perceived money laundering until proven guilty.
    1. The contractual purchase deal of the Daiher Mall

    2. The the contractual deal with Indian nurses.

Regardless of which party one is affiliated with one should not support this behavior. This is pure criminality. Last week the cabinet of ministers had to borrow money to pay the Indians.
    Lord lord….

  21. @ John Cepel.
You left at Gail Rigo. Another party disgrace for a so called intelligent woman. CCJ will take them to their destination.

    Be patient….

  22. I share your sentiment Mel. I’m he supporters do all their dirty work before election and when they get there. They forget their supporters. We are handed done cramps. Can u believe that the 2 oppositions that won the election can afford to give their supports $ 25/28 ooo ( 25 and 28 thousand dollars) contract while Slp that is power can only give their supports step. And their friends get the big contracts. I can never vote for these heartless people again and to believe that I support this party for over 20 years. The prime minister I thought was someone with a conscience but oh god how wrong I was. He cannot even direct his people when he is aware of their unfairness. But oh wait and murmur not people for fear not God has not forgotten his people. Everything happens at gods time and paste and we will one day sooner than we think be victorious over these ungodly tribe without a heart and conscience. Peace and love

  23. Carbay when you can get an answer from PJP for the $1.50 that he continuesto collect on the gas. Allen used it to fix our roads. Remember, people don’t eat roads? When you get the answer then I will answer the myriad of questions that you have. Thus is only one that I’m posing to you.

  24. @ Janette am a direct victim of the road condition and I have expressed my dissatisfaction with the road conditions in my area and I will take it directly to the leaders. Have not been fixed for 18 years plus.
Unacceptable….and I agree with you on current road conditions.

I was told that such revenue collected need to close some gaps.

Saw civil servants got payed (back Pay) from 2013 which i believe is good .

I believe they are on the right track.

    St. Judes ??? Needed urgently.

    Road net work ???

Let’s see what comesout of 2023 – 2024 budget allocation.

We need proper accountability of the state funds.

  25. Re Article and fire burns comments..I do agree that minimum wage is too low for the population, We need a fair living wage system of $10 per hour based on 40 hrs weekly, we need the hotel’s attention to share the wealth of the island with the workers and their Families Asap.
We can’t fix politicians, because they are both the same and the opposition is to critique the current party. Fact. Our people should demand our Politician’s to create a gainful employment for their voters.. We need Jobs Jobs Jobs and not talk talk Talk. We need both political parties to create Employment and innovate commonsense.. Start by increasing the wages of the workers to A $10 per hour based on 40 hrs weekly to the people of St Lucia and also Share the WEALTH..

  26. Once the St. Jude Hospital is opened during PM Pierre Administration the SLP will win the next election
