The Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) inaugural summer camp opened Monday to fifty forms four and five students from schools in the South of the Island.
The SLFS Training School is the venue.
Aaron Charlemagne, the Summer Camp Committee spokesman, explained that hosting the activity was part of the fire service’s social responsibility.
Charlemagne indicated that the camp would help prepare the youngsters to accept the responsibilities that come with adulthood.
“We have a week of activities organised for them,” he disclosed.
The Summer Camp Committee spokesman said they include physical activities and classroom sessions dealing with conflict resolution, cyberbullying, and etiquette.
“We are hoping that this camp will impact the youth and we can at least make a change and set them up for the world of work,” Charlemagne stated.
