The Immigration Department of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) reported issuing more than 5,000 passports between July 20 and August 14 this year while acknowledging the inconveniences of passport processing.

Under the guidance of Acting Police Commissioner Ronald Phillip, the RSLPF introduced passport collection on Sundays.

And in a statement Tuesday, the police said many people are taking advantage of the Sunday service.

The complete statement appears below:

  1. The Gorvenment of St.Lucia need to change the passport validity to 10 Years for persons with no criminal record.

  2. This government is a waste. 5 years passport validity is a waste. And labour increased the cost of passport more than any other government. Can’t wait is to see their backs! And the reason for the 5000 passports is rather dire. People are leaving at Lucia in droves! No work. They can’t eat.

  3. Expecting praise for an ordinary feat that you are supposed to be doing…..I love this kontry ee……trumpism!

  4. Thought there was a limit of 50 passports a day, how does that add up to 5000 I such a short period. Why the post, like do you guys actually want praises for finally earning your salary from our tax dollars. 10 year passports so people wouldn’t have to return so often. The department have proven that they are not capable of handling the traffic, so please do us all a favor

  5. You mean they could have done that all along. Let’s hope the license office takes note. But then again we like it so, it’s what we voted for.

  6. @Tips the price was agreed on before SLP won the elections bring back your Massa Allen Chastanet he’ll bring the prices down by singing the document on his desk

  7. I have been saying that the 5 year validity period, imposed since the previous “machine readable” passport, was an insult, from the onset. Nobody said anything. Now see it there. Of course it is a joke. Then on top of that they increased the price, while maintaining the (less than) 5 year period of use. Yes, geniuses, less than 5 years, since you cannot travel to certain places within 6 months of expiry, and you have the waiting time for processing of visas after having gotten this pASSport. Only St Lucia and Dominica in all of the Caribbean have this paediatric passport for adults. Of course you know what our passport will soon have in common with Dominica’s – visa restrictions because of CIP.

They talk about expensive intra-regional travel due to high taxes, especially from St Lucia. Now we have the most expensive and worthless passport in the Caribbean. Where are we going with that? Unless in government, you are not going to get more than 3 round trips off that passport before it expires.

As far as CIP is concerned, better they spend their money to explore the depths in a submersible, then to BUY a St Lucia passport.

Stop treating us like fools and selling us out. Give us back our 10 years’ validity. Unless the masses say something, they will continue to rape us of our post-taxes scraps.

  8. In the private sector that’s called doing your job! Took the government one year to come up with the idea of having passport pickups on Sundays and we are supposed to applaud!
