Home Affairs Minister Dr. Virginia Albert-Poyotte has called for a full investigation into Sunday’s escape of a convicted rapist from the Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF) farm.

The Minister spoke on Monday, hours before a joint operation involving BCF and police officers recaptured Elwin Lansiquot.

He was hiding in some bushes at Praslin and offered no resistance.

“It’s a while we haven’t had a case where an inmate escaped from the prison. So, I would want a full investigation into the matter and I will await a comprehensive report on what transpired,” Albert-Poyotte told St. Lucia Times.

She explained that the authorities would decide on measures to prevent a recurrence based on the investigation and report.

On Sunday, the BCF disclosed the escape of fifty-five-year-old Elwin Lansiquot, alias’ La Por Ta’ or ‘Big Dude’ from the prison farm.

According to a BCF statement, the prison noticed Lansiquot’s absence at approximately 8:30 a.m.

He was serving a 20-year sentence for two counts of rape, kidnapping, and false imprisonment, arising from a 2006 incident at Canaries.

A search party found him at about 10:35 pm on Monday.

  1. Ms Minister, if it is the same way you are waiting for a comprehensive report from the passport office, then hell will freeze over first.

Please stop! Just stop! All you do is say what is good for the camera (optics) at the time and it goes nowhere. We are tired of this. Work for the money you are being paid.

  2. Madam Poyotte, What other “Full Investigations” do you have pending ? Can you publish the list so the public can see. I am just asking for a friend.

  3. I am surprised that she didn’t say “I am concerned about…….” . Anyways this sounds so childish and reassuring to the less knowledgeable party hacks. I wonder what she will do with the comprehensive report. Next yr same time can the media ask her about this comprehensive report plz and what she’s done with it.

  4. I don’t remember you asking for an investigation into the escape of a much greater criminal offender, the one who ever it must have arranged for him to fly to Jamaica; how about the second murderer, the one who was allowed to walk out and still on the run? Is some body being paid to allow that to happen, and to shut up about it?
Did any Minister ask for and receive any comprehensive report re: these two escape prisoners? don’t know about you, but I’m pretty perturbed about what’s going on here.
