St Lucia has captured four awards at the inaugural Caribbean Youth Awards held in Jamaica last week. The awards were presented during a Caricom Youth Summit on the 22nd of November.

The Caribbean Youth Awards was hosted by the Caribbean Regional Youth Council, the representative body for all national youth councils in the Caribbean region.

President of the St. Lucia National Youth Council, Mrs Yaniqueca Jean-Bart William, says the awards come at a time when the executive of the NYC is celebrating its first year in office, and they will serve as an inspiration to the team to represent the young people of St. Lucia.

She noted that the recent activities organized by the Executive, such as emotional intelligence training for students, the engagement of young people at the community level and training of over 400 youth leaders, indicate the kind of activities the council will undertake in the new year.

The following are the awards captured by St. Lucia:

Most outstanding NYC 2023 award -Saint Lucia National Youth Council

Overall Year of the Youth 2023 -Sherguan Roserie

Chair Excellence in Leadership – Yaniqueca Jean-Bart William

Raejean Montoute – Top Ten Youth Leader Awardee

The council also wishes to recognise the outstanding work of Ethan Leandre, Necolle Herelle, and Junior Delice, who were nominated for awards but unfortunately did not emerge as overall winners.

In total, St. Lucia was nominated for seven categories. The President thanks all stakeholders for their continued support.
