Saint Lucia Confirms Presence Of Omicron Variant HV.1

Saint Lucia has confirmed the presence of the Omicron variant HV.1 in samples submitted to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA).

The disclosure came on Monday from Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sharon Belmar-George.

On January 17, 2024, Saint Lucia received confirmation of the Omicron variant HV.1 in samples submitted by the national reference Ezra Long Laboratory.

The Chief Medical Officer also noted that the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs has noted an increase in the number of persons presenting with flu-like illnesses during the last two months.

In this regard, Belmar-George outlined several measures to reduce the spread.
