The first French and European evacuees from Haiti arrived in neighbouring Martinique on Friday aboard Navy ships.
Martinique authorities took the first batch of seventy evacuees to the Palais des Sports du Lamentin.
The official Facebook page of Martinique’s Prefect explained that significant state resources have gone into welcoming and taking care of the arrivals, who are part of the evacuation of 243 nationals.
The first group arrived in Martinique as Haiti’s political, security, and social crisis deteriorated.
A new report by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) called for ‘immediate and bold action’ to tackle the country’s ‘cataclysmic’ situation.
Turmoil and violence in Haiti surged after the 2021 assassination of President Jovenel Moise.
Dozens of armed gangs currently operate in the country, including some that control large areas of the capital, Port au Prince.
Unelected Prime Minister Ariel Henry recently announced his resignation.
The announcement came after Caribbean leaders met in Jamaica to discuss a political transition in Haiti.
This week, the Associated Press reported that members of a transitional presidential council responsible for selecting a new prime minister issued their first official statement on Wednesday, pledging to restore ‘public and democratic order”.

Leaders after leaders promise the people of Haiti a better life, but didn’t deliver. The only delivery was millions to themselves.
@JDorn Yep – Haitians!
Haïti ?
They boast,” ”we have entered into a covenant with death, with the grave we have made an agreement ❗
Up to this day Haïti getting financial help, according to their leaders, président etc is using it for their own benifits and its seems no one can change their suitation, because they have made an aliance with the grave
How can we unDoomed the Doomed?
Asking for a friend?
This is a wakeup call for St. Lucia. Sadly Haiti has served sacrificially as a mirror for not only St Lucia, but other Islands better take notes, why? open your eyes and look all around Globally, Wars are to strike in the East, the North, The Central and the South partly. The South because of conflicting rival gangs in former colonial States in Africa. Others are in Ukraine Vs Russia, Israel Vs Hamas and at any time between China Vs Taiwan @ others (that’ll be very chaotic)
The effects of these wars Many fear may result in Atomic warfare, with its poisonous air killing Farming Livestock, Oceanic Fish, Vegetable and the water you drink. It is time for us to get back to our farming and to put to a minimum importing manufactured foods.
Please pardon me for I do not attempt to induce fear, but only to tell of the reality of what I am convinced will shortly happen on Planet Earth preceding a very great Tribulation, like it or not. (May Lord be Merciful)
