6 Saint Lucians in WI Tapeball Team

Tapeball cricket action continued following the completion of the International Tapeball Council Tri-Nation Series with a T10 Fiesta in the Commonwealth of Dominica.

Saint Lucia came up against Dominica Veterans. Saint Lucia won the toss and, electing to bat, scored 179 for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotment of 10 overs. Orey Changoo led the batting with a masterful knock of 63 from 16 balls, inclusive of 8 sixes and 3 fours. Kymani Sexius followed the charge, getting 57 runs off 17 balls with 8 sixes and 2 fours.

Jahair Felix was Dominica’s leading wicket taker with 2 wickets.

In reply, Dominica Veterans were restricted to 103 for 7 in their 10 overs. Subin Vidhadaharan top scored with 24 and Kerney Coipel 22.

Bowling for Saint Lucia, captain Stanley Cherry took 2 wickets. There was 1 wicket each to Zachary Edmund and Kymani Sexius.

In the second game, Saint Lucia Veterans got the better of the Dominica National Team. Batting first, Dominica was put under pressure from some tight and clinical bowling, and were eventually bowled out for 44 runs in 9.4 overs.

Findley Estephane, David Joseph, Marcus Nelson, and Glen Eurysthee took 2 wickets each and Atanus Alberson; 1 wicket for Saint Lucia Veterans.

Set a victory target of 45 runs, Jason Simon led the batting for the visiting Veterans with 32 not out. The touring team easily got over the line scoring 48 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 5.4 overs.

The final of the T10 Tapeball Fiesta saw Saint Lucia National Tapeball Team coming up against Saint Lucia Veterans Tapeball Team.

The National Team won the toss and elected to have a bat, scoring 123 for 7 on their 10 overs. Stanley Cherry scored 55 runs not out from 21 balls and Zachary Edmund 28.

Bowling for the Veterans, Fendley Estephane took 2 wickets, David Joseph, Julius Simon, and David Joseph shared 1 wicket each.

In reply, Veterans were restricted to 38 for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs, with Nixon Gustave, Kymani Sexius, and Zachary Edmund taking 1 wicket each.

Result: Saint Lucia National Tapeball Team are the winners of the T10 Tapeball Fiesta and the Saint Lucia Veterans Tapeball Team are the runners up.

At the end of the International Council Tri-Nation Tapeball Tournament 6 Saint Lucians were selected to represent the West Indies Tapeball Team for the upcoming International Tapeball Tournament. The selectees are: Malcolm Monrose, Jason Simon, Zachary Edmund, Garette Alphonse, Kymani Sexius, and Atanus Alberson. Congratulations and best wishes to them all!
