West Indies Announce Squad For ODIs Against Bangladesh

Cricket West Indies has announced their 15-man squad for the upcoming One Day International (ODI) series against Bangladesh.

The Windies will face the Tigers in white-ball cricket during the festive season to close out this year’s cricket calendar. The series will begin with a three-match ODI series from December 8–12 at Warner Park in St Kitts & Nevis.

Among the notable names added to the team is Justin Greaves, following his stellar performance in this year’s CG United Super50 Competition. The 30-year-old Barbadian all-rounder scored three consecutive centuries, becoming the first player ever to accomplish this in the tournament’s history. His form continued in the recently concluded Test series against Bangladesh, where Greaves recorded his maiden Test century.

Another key addition to the team is wicketkeeper Amir Jangoo. Like Greaves, Jangoo showcased incredible batting form in the regional 50-over competition, topping the scoring charts with a mammoth 446 runs.

Windies white-ball head coach Daren Sammy indicated that these additions to the squad could be vital game-changers, stating:

“Greaves is capable of batting anywhere in the top six and brings a genuine all-round ability to the squad, which is welcomed at this stage, while Jangoo’s prowess in the CG United Super50 demonstrates his flexibility to add another dimension to our batting unit.”

This series will form part of the continued development of the Men in Maroon, who hope to become permanent fixtures in international tournaments once again. The team will miss next year’s Champions Trophy in Pakistan due to their failure to qualify for the tournament. However, Sammy has his sights set on the 2027 World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

“We continue to build towards the main target of the ICC Men’s 50-over World Cup, where we are looking to broaden the pool of players, even with the short-term objectives of winning the series, especially at home, and building momentum after the recent win against England.”

The full squad is as follows:

  • Shai Hope (Captain)
  • Brandon King (Vice-Captain)
  • Keacy Carty
  • Roston Chase
  • Matthew Forde
  • Justin Greaves
  • Shimron Hetmyer
  • Amir Jangoo
  • Alzarri Joseph
  • Shamar Joseph
  • Evin Lewis
  • Gudakesh Motie
  • Sherfane Rutherford
  • Jayden Seales
  • Romario Shepherd
