Man Shot During Armed Robbery At Belair Dies

A man who sustained a gunshot injury during Tuesday’s armed robbery of a goods vehicle at Belair, Castries, has died, police have confirmed.

Investigators identified the deceased as Stefan Eudovic of La Croix Maingot.

Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) emergency personnel responded at about 4:15 pm after learning of the incident, treated him for a gunshot injury to the thigh, and transported him to the OKEU Hospital for further medical attention.

It was unclear whether any items or cash were stolen during the robbery.

Eudovic’s death has pushed Saint Lucia’s homicide toll for the year so far to 74.

  1. and so the decline into a failed state continues one life at a time. This new breed of criminals are not just out for personal belongings but for life. And this inept administration can’t do a damn thing about it.

  2. The life of a man trying to make an honest living exterminated by men who chose dishonest living. No police to protect him. No hospital to save him. No government to take care of his family. This system is broken and failing people.

  3. This crime situation is inherited from the previous administration, but PM revise the penalty for persons found with illegal weapons. Make the penalty at least $60 000.00 or 25 years in jail. This 6 months or 12 months are things of the past. Magistrate should have no option, it has to be carte Blanche.

  4. Things are heading south again. What will duh security minister do?
    (a) attend a “critical” regional meeting?
    (b) consider a crime symposium of “stakeholders”?
    (c) threaten the criminals that their time is nigh?
    (d) use words like urge, plea, appeal and advise?

  5. @Lydia, and the former prime minister inherited it from the previous administrations so whats your point? The crime wave start exploding between 1997-2001 under PM KDA.

@Poule Foo, you forgot (e) all of the above. 🙂

  6. Serious indictment of also the health infrastructure where persons die from injuries to the leg . Crime is also alive ,well and underreported in St .Lucia .

  7. St Lucia is done as we knew it, this country runs like a failed state and the government seems content. A common man should not be getting killed broad day light like that over nothing. The criminals have no fear or remorse, poor people keep suffering. OH N LETS NOT FORGET ITS GUN MAN THE FEMALES LUV so no end to this endemic we facing in SLU

  8. This is a sad event, this guy was working hard and to know him was to like him, great guy with a wonderful sense of humour, shot in the leg and an age for the ambulance to get to him, did anyone attempt to stem the bloodflow? So he dies at age only 27 what is going on in this country.

  9. Rip to this young man and his family condolences…people if someone is shot by you, apply pressure to wound, take off you’re belt scarf whatever and wrap the wound and tie it tight! This is a blatant shame smh woii

  10. Shitty healthcare in St. Lucia. I understand the place is understaffed and nurses are overworked, but to die from a bullet wound to the leg at a hospital? The man should have just gone home, poured some whiskey on the wound and tie his leg like in the western movies? This is totally unbelievable and unacceptable.

  11. Every businessman should have a licensed firearm, as the thieves come to steal and to kill, armed yourself as you may have to save your own life.

  12. Sincere condolences to this young man’s family. Gunshots to the leg can cause death very quickly if the femoral artery gets hit. It is possible that he could have bled out before proper aid could have been administered. I know that our health care system leaves a lot to be desired (ambulance arrival times, wait times, staffing) but sometimes, all of these things could be present and it just doesn’t go in someone’s favour. Also, life isn’t a movie, if you can, get trained in first aid.
