Lisa Jawahir On Crime: “The Change We Seek Begins With Us!”

Government Senator Lisa Jawahir has expressed that people’s attitudes, lifestyles, and how they show love and care for each other will lead to a safer community.

“There is no justification for taking an innocent life! Police or the government resources on its own cannot stop crime. It helps, but the change we seek begins with us, ” Jawahir declared.

Jawahir’s Facebook remarks on Sunday followed her attendance at a candlelight walk in memory of Stephan Eudovique, also known as ‘Tall Boy.’

The 27-year-old La Croix Maingot resident sustained fatal gunshot injuries earlier this month during a brazen daylight robbery in New Belair, Castries.

Jawahir wrote that it broke her heart to speak with the deceased’s mother, who shared what a loving individual her son was.

The government senator asserted that someone’s selfish act caused Stephan’s death.

“We cannot lose another one like Stephan. Put down the guns!” Jawahir stated.

Stephan got shot in the thigh during a robbery of a goods vehicle in which he was a passenger. Reports indicated that he bled profusely after the incident and was later pronounced dead.

He was preparing to celebrate his 28th birthday on Christmas Eve Day.

  1. RECOMMENDATION:For the country to win against crime and the best strategy as given by God.
#Please prime minister call for a national fasting and prayer  for st lucia. All business places must be close ,every shop it will be a holiday. We will be giving back the nation to God.we have put him out of st lucia please let’s bring him back.
Have all Government ministers and leaders of the opposition with different pastors praying seeking God face in the house of parliament.
Please someone show the prime minister this post.

  2. @ kc, show the PM what? Not even God want to see that nonsense you post deh. God will tell you take a look at some of the Scandinavian countries that hardly pray to him. They will show you how to reduce crime .

  3. @Mal Tet.God blessings to you.
However when you look through the bible you will see great kings and princes won battles when they enquire to God what is the next step.
God is the one who gives wisdom, what works for Martinique may not necessarily work for st lucia.
Ephesians 6 tells us we are fighting a spiritual battle.
This is why persons can’t control their anger.

  4. Kc I gew up in church hv read the entire bible and even Jesus Christ got angry when sin was taking place so brazen even in the house of god, so …Btw Y don’t u tell the pastors and priests and Christians to be examples and show compassion to the meek and poor instead of looking for wealth.
Also stop hvn those parliamentarians try to cast all blame and solution on us rather than do something about crime.

  5. We all know that all the crying, praying and appeals to the criminals to “Put down the guns” WILL be futile. Stop deluding yourselves that it will work and snap out of it! Rather than begging criminals to stop indulging in crime (that makes you look like a weakling), how about making tight laws like enabling police to use lethal force to neutralize dangerous criminals. How about even curtailing certain human rights for such criminals who were convicted. Im sure they dont give a s*** to our rights. Why shud the law abiding citizens suffer because the law is tok weak to punish the criminals.

  6. More platitudes. Try a little hands-on to solve the problem; it has been known to work. The public has been demanding solutions for years. Sigh!

What’s next? We all do a war dance. Sometimes in life, we must take the bull by the horns. The disturbing mindset of defeatism.

  7. The government enacted a 6:52 an hour but they still do not want to work in Vieux fort all they do is steal food and jelly coconuts to sell by the road

  8. Prayer changes everything !!
Spread the word take heart do like Jesus

Who does not need prayers are already cursed :
During the days of Jesus’ life on earth,he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears,to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his REVERENT SUBMISSION
    Judges is saying :
This is why the word of God in the book of judges said :
There the LORD told him, “seperate those who lap the water with their tongues like a dog from those who kneel down to drink ”…

  9. You right about that Miss, the change we need is getting rid of your dictorship government. We the people are fed up, we are struggling whiles certain members are enriching themselves. We are sick of it.
