“I Want Them to Pay for It”: Mother of Alana Bernard Devastated by Daughter’s Murder

A grieving mother is demanding justice for her daughter, 27-year-old Alana Bernard, who was shot and killed just steps away from her Corinth, Gros Islet home on Tuesday evening.

Alana, described as a devoted mother of three young children – ages 8, 5, and 11 months – was gunned down in what is believed to be a targeted attack.

The mother of three was gunned down in her neighbourhood.

Through tears, Alana’s mother, who asked that her name be withheld, described her daughter as a loving and hardworking young woman who sacrificed everything for her children.

“She was my last daughter. A loving child. She liked to party, she liked to dress nicely, she liked to do her TikToks with her children,” she said. “She loved them. She would do anything for them. Because their fathers weren’t giving anything, she had to work for her money. Last year, she started working at Chef Robby’s in La Place Carenage, and she hold her job.”

The pain of losing her daughter was made even worse by the way she found out about her death.

“Nobody told me anything happened. I was coming back from picking up her last son from preschool, and when I reached here, I saw my daughter lying there… in her blood.”

Her voice broke as she recalled their final conversation.

“She had just called me to ask if I picked up her son already. I told her I was close by. That was the last thing she ever said to me.”

Now, all she wants is justice.

“I just want them to pay for it.”

Reports reaching St Lucia Times indicate that Bernard was a witness in a case that was scheduled to be heard in court on Wednesday.

Authorities are investigating whether her murder was an act of retaliation.

  1. Eh eh, St.Lucians killing witnesses now? Pray for deliverance of people who are under evil spells that compel them to do these heinous acts of violence.

  2. I am not certain what your faith is – but I felt led to say a prayer, and so I prayed in obedience. I do not reside in St. Lucia – but I know that prayer knows no distance. Amen

Heavenly Father, we come before you in this time of great sorrow and grief on behalf of Alana’s mother. Lord, her heart is extremely heavy with the burden and the loss of her beloved daughter. Lord, I pray that you be with this family during this difficult and sorrowful season.

Father, I pray that you grant the murderer(s) no rest, no peace and they will be in severe turmoil for the rest of their lives. Lord, the blood of victims is all over St. Lucia and so I pray that you intervene as only you can.

Lord, I also pray that the authorities in charge be swift with the apprehension of all those involved in this heinous crime. Lord, three little ones including a little baby has lost their mother and I know that you will certainly move in their behalf in the Name of the Lord Jesus. Thank you Lord. Amen and Amen

  3. What are the HIGH powered cameras littered on our highways SAYING!??

They said it was a black suzuki swift.

Note the time of the incident.

    Start the SEARCH!

OH but WAIT….are they even Functional i should ask first.

  4. Since she was a witness to a case in the courts , that says it all . Those cockroaches and thugs are destroying this little island. They refuse to get a 9 to 5 job and make a life for themselves as there are so many vacancies in the private sector … sad reality but they will pay a heavy price and will not be able to sleep at nights . There are mothers , brothers , sisters who know that their family members are living a life of crime …

  5. Doesn’t the country has witness protection programs. These are reason why witnesses refuses to come forward. I believe in the future they should send witnesses overseas depending on the case and have the case via zoom or improve on the witness program.

  6. certainly Jay…i am praying the same prayer as you…it will be heard by the Lord…they will come out and confess with their tongue and for whom they did it….i claim that power of the tongue..they wont have any sleep…justice will be served…

  7. This is no surprise , the justice system been failing for decades now. Rick wayne has wrote about all these horror stories in The Star newspaper in the 80s and 90s, Lets not forget or some of you were not born yet,. So we say RIP and we move on, The Leaders in society are all quiet, Its ok . Life goes On, .

  8. There’s a saying see something say something if that’s the case with this young lady the rest of us has a big lesson to learn, my condolences to the family Rip so sad

  9. Instead you’ll say something about solving these crimes immediately, this is what you’ll wasting time to write about?

  10. I am not certain if you all in 758 realize that it is really not safe for anyone. There is something called crossfire – praying.

  11. It is just a matter of time when law abiding citizens will do whateva to protect themselves and their family…meaning , they will ” tool” themselves with whatever in their right conscience and after calculated thought to safeguard their loved ones! And to be clear, as has happened in failed states like Haiti for example-” no police or government can deny someone the natural right to protecting themselves by any means necessary.”

  12. How about incentives such as reward to motivate otherwise silent witnesses to come forward?? How about some good old fashion police investigation – trying to recover spent shells to aid with forensics? How about trying to locate vehicles used? How about striking deals with suspects to have them rat on each other?? ..
Witness protection on a 238sq/ml island would be impractical and expensive. We simply don’t have the resources or influence without foreign collaboration. Also how exactly would the police determine whom is deserving of protection without the suspects having a particular track record? Are we to assume the police has the wherewithal to protect all witnesses?
… Bottom line, I don’t have all the answers but I doubt sitting on our royals with meaningless prayers would cut it.
