Patricia James Secondary Victorious in Schools’ Cricket Opener

The 2025 Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Schools’ Under-19 50-Over Boys’ Cricket Tournament bowled off on Tuesday. Patricia D James Secondary School (PDJSS) earned a solid victory over Castries Comprehensive Secondary School (CCSS) at the Gros Islet Playing Field. The La Clery boys won a thriller by three wickets, thanks to the exploits of Kerdel Nelson and Jervon Fevrier.

In a game reduced to 35 overs a side, Nelson and Fevrier shared seven wickets for PDJSS, as they dismissed their Vide Boutielle rivals for 78 in 19.4 overs. With a bowling attack also featuring Under-15 national player Harry Monzie, PDJSS got 4-23 from 15-year-old Grande Riviere, Gros Islet native Nelson, a left-arm spinner, and 3-12 from Fevrier. Monzie and Sergio Sydney each struck once.

Top-scoring for CCSS was another national Under-15 player, Daniel Lorde, with 11.

In reply, PDJSS held their nerve and got over the line, finishing on 80-7 in  13.4 overs. Fevrier, 16 years old, played an important knock. He was 20 not out and hit the winning runs, whilst Nickyah Thomas added 10.

Daniel Lorde took three wickets, and Kymani Calvin two.

On Wednesday, at the same venue, defending champions Leon Hess Comprehensive Secondary School (LHCSS) were handily defeated by Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC). The College boys won by 95 runs.
