The Ministry of Health, Wellness, and Elderly Affairs has received a significant donation of medical equipment from the University Hospital of Martinique (CHUM).
The equipment, which includes essential devices and supplies for improving patient care and hospital services, is expected to arrive in Saint Lucia by the end of this month.
Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Jenny Daniel formally accepted the donation on behalf of the Government of Saint Lucia and expressed gratitude for the hospital’s continued support.
“We are truly grateful for the hospitality and generous donation from CHUM. This collaboration strengthens the capacity of our healthcare system and reinforces the invaluable partnership between Saint Lucia and France (through Martinique),” she said.
Saint Lucia’s Council General to Martinique and the French Antilles, Allison Joseph, stressed the importance of this ongoing collaboration.
“Saint Lucia wants to know that we keep the friendship and relationship strong. This donation is not just about medical equipment, it reflects the deep-rooted partnership that exists between our two territories. Our mutual cooperation ensures that both our nations grow together, supporting each other in times of need,” she stated.
The latest contribution follows a series of collaborative efforts between CHUM and the Ministry of Health, which have facilitated knowledge exchange, training programmes, and medical support to bolster Saint Lucia’s healthcare infrastructure.
