‘Not a Politician, but a Leader’: Joshua Harrow’s Vision for Change

At 25 years old, Joshua Wayne Harrow is one of the youngest ever Senators in Saint Lucia. But for him, this isn’t about titles or politics as usual—it’s about leadership, service, and making a real difference.

“I am not a politician; I am a leader,” he declared. “Too many politicians aren’t leaders, and too many leaders aren’t politicians. I’m here to serve, to protect, to inspire, and to love my nation.”

Joshua’s journey into leadership started very early. He was an active voice in the National Youth Council and youth advocacy, constantly pushing for young people to have a seat at the table. But instead of diving straight into government, he took a different path—the media.

As a journalist with Choice TV and MBC Television, and later as the founder of Harrow Studios, Joshua built a career on telling stories, uncovering truths, and amplifying voices. Now, he’s bringing that same passion into the Senate.

For him, this appointment is bigger than just a personal milestone. It represents a shift for youth leadership in Saint Lucia, proving that young people belong in positions of power.

At the same time, he believes there’s still much work to be done to make the political system more inclusive. He wants to change the culture of politics, moving away from divisive leadership and fostering a space where disagreements don’t turn into personal attacks.

His top priority as senator is to engage young people in politics, regardless of party affiliation, and educate them on their rights. He wants them to understand their power in shaping Saint Lucia’s future. More than anything, he hopes to bring a fresh and respectful approach to governance, where differing views can exist without hostility.

Beyond politics, Joshua is passionate about modernising Saint Lucia’s education system to equip young people with practical, real-world skills. He believes the media industry needs stronger support to ensure journalists are treated fairly and empowered to thrive.

Youth development is also close to his heart. Joshua sees immense untapped potential in sports, business, and the creative industries and wants to help young entrepreneurs and artists break into the global market.

Joshua knows many people are skeptical about politics, but he wants them to know he’s different. He’s not in it for money or power—but because he sees problems that need solutions. His goal is to inspire young people to take charge of their future, believe in their own voice, and push for change.

So, for Joshua Harrow, this isn’t just about being in the Senate. It’s about igniting a movement—one that challenges the old ways and builds a better future.

  1. From the first time I heard this young man I said he was a breath of fresh air. My only hope is that he doesn’t turn out to be like all the others, if or when he gets in power to throw away all his ideals. Btw just asking for a friend, I realize that he is an opposition senator, what constituency will he be contesting?

  2. …also please advocate for teaching the patois language in every classroom in primary and secondary schools island-wide.
