Castries youth football league enters knockout phase

The playoffs will get underway in the fourth week of the Saint Lucia Electricity Services Ltd / Bank of Saint Lucia Castries Youth Football League.

The Under-12 teams are heading into the quarterfinals, while the other three age groups are still fighting for playoff spots. Top scorers in each division are also competing for the Golden Boot.

Earlier this week, Lancers FC beat NYAH FC 2-0 in the Under-7 category, scoring once in each half. Traie Constantine and Kaylan Moise found the net in the Castries derby. On Thursday, GMC United had a strong 6-0 win over VSADC, with Shiloh John, Sherdan Sylvester, and Shaquil Martelly each scoring twice.

This Saturday at the Sab Playing Facility, Lancers FC will face FC Pioneers, and Monchy United FC will take on NYAH FC in the Under-10 division. After scoring five goals last week, Monchy United’s Liam Peter will be looking to add more to his total on Saturday morning.

In the Under-14 category, VSADC will play FC Pioneers, NYAH FC will meet GMC United, and Big Players FC will face Valley Soccer Club. Randel Francois from Lancers FC and Deandre James from FC Pioneers are tied with three goals each, so Saturday’s games give both a chance to take the lead.

The Under-12 quarterfinals will start on Sunday, with all four games kicking off at 9:50 a.m. Lancers FC will try to beat New Generation FC, Big Players will face Flames United, Maxwell Andrew and Monchy United will play NYAH FC, and VSADC will take on FC Pioneers.

The weekend will end with Under-17 matches, as Valley Soccer and NYAH FC play, along with a game between Monchy United and GMC United. Curtrel Francois from Monchy United has four goals, while Dacius Prince from Valley Soccer has three. Sunday’s double-header could decide who wins the championship.
