Easter Kite Flying Festival Returns for 22nd Year

The highly anticipated Easter Monday Kite Flying Festival is set to return for its 22nd year, bringing families together for a day of cultural celebration and outdoor fun.

The festival will be held on Monday, April 21, at pigeon point near landings resort, where attendees can enjoy a full day of kite flying from 10 AM to 5 PM. Several schools will participate.

Organised by XS Productions in partnership with the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF), the festival aims to preserve the tradition of kite flying.

This year, its reach has been broadened as training and workshops will be conducted with schools in the south and north of the island.

“The intention is to pass the skills on to kids, so that it can actually continue,” said John Chester Joseph, founder of XS Productions. “So we have the next generation coming up into the culture.”

The event is designed to foster family bonding while encouraging physical activity. “It gives us an opportunity to have a family kind of event, which is different from your normal event,” Joseph said.

“Families can come out, be engaged in something where they are physically outside, running around. Also, with parents and kids working together, you get more family bonding.”

Registration cost will be $10 for children, $15 for adults and $35 for groups.

Joseph invites everyone to join: “We would love if they would come and actually experience the event.”
