The action resumed Tuesday night at the Beausejour Gymnasium with two matchups in the 2025 KFC National Basketball League. The defending champions, Soufrière Kings, secured a 64-55 victory over the Morne Gladiators, while the Courts Jets dominated Combined Schools 92-53.
The Kings notched their fifth win in six games, comfortably defeating the Gladiators in a rematch of last year’s finals. Linzell Alcee led the charge with 17 points, nine rebounds, and five steals, while Jayzee Saltibus added a double-double (15 points, 10 rebounds). Kymani Charles also made key contributions with 13 points, four steals, and four rebounds.
After building an early seven-point lead, Soufrière entered halftime up 30-26. They continued to pull away in the second half as the Gladiators struggled offensively. Charles told St Lucia Times that the Kings’ title defence remains on track, though improvements are needed.
“It’s going pretty well,” he insisted. “We have pretty much the same players as we did last year. Some of us are trying to battle back from injury. Our shooting for sure is the one thing we have to work on. It has been lapsing. Inside the paint, we’ve been doing pretty well. We have Jayzee, he has that area covered. But we need to improve our shooting.”
Shamoir Jn Baptiste paced the Gladiators with 22 points and four rebounds in the losing effort.
In the earlier game, the Courts Jets handed Combined Schools their fifth loss in six games. Ryan Philogene delivered a dominant triple-double (27 points, 14 rebounds, 10 steals), while Alystr Theodore (18 points on 11 shots) and Tristan James (18 points, eight rebounds) also starred. The Jets now sit at 5-3.
For Combined Schools, Ethan Desrivieres and Nezan Lewis each scored 12 points, with Lewis adding eight rebounds.
