Lucian Volleyball Star Julien Bissette Returns to Greece

Saint Lucian volleyball trailblazer Julien Bissette is making another career move, signing with Panionios Volleyball Club in Greece for the 2025-2026 season.

The 6’6” hitter will take to the court at the Panionios Indoor Hall in Nea Smirni later this year.

Now 35, Bissette began his professional career in Greece back in 2014 with MENT, becoming Saint Lucia’s first full-time professional volleyball player. After a season with AOP Kifisias in the Greek A1 league, he took his talents further afield, playing for France’s Narbonne Volley, Romania’s Tricolorul LMV Ploiesti and Arcada Galați, and later returning to Greece with Filippos Veria in 2020. His career has also included stints with Jordan’s Al Wehdat SC and another spell with Arcada Galați.

In the 2023-2024 season, the Babonneau native competed in Greece’s Pre League with Aris before switching to Iraklis the following year, staying in the same city and division.

Eager for success with his new club, Bissette expressed enthusiasm for Panionios’ mascot and ambitions. “I am happy to be part of Panionios this season,” he said. “The panther is my favourite animal, and I already feel connected to the club. My goal is to be in the top four of the Greek championship. Of course, the players and the team’s staff deserve warm congratulations for their promotion to the A1 volleyball league.”

Meanwhile, fellow Saint Lucian Tevin St Jean, a middle blocker, recently played for Azerbaijan’s Neftçi Baku, adding to his experience in Portugal, Greece and Romania.
