Man, 37, Gunned Down in Wilton’s Yard

The stillness of the early morning was shattered in Wilton’s Yard today when gunfire erupted, leaving one man dead and another injured.

Police say the shooting occurred around 3:15 a.m. Officers from the Criminal Investigations Department responded to the scene and found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds.

Thirty-seven-year-old Olando Kelvin William, a resident of Wilton’s Yard, was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical practitioner. The second victim was transported to hospital for treatment; their condition has not been disclosed.

Speaking to St Lucia Times, William’s aunt expressed shock and confusion over the killing. “I hear he get shot in the yard…  I don’t know why they shoot the boy,” she said.

A resident of the area, commenting on the ongoing gun violence, shared the toll it takes on those left behind. “It’s hurtful… it leaves us parents, friends, family mourning, not only for the loss of somebody, but it leaves the family in expense,” she said.
