Muscles were pumped, and champions were crowned in several categories on August 31 at the 47th National Bodybuilding and Body Fitness Championships. Almost 20 athletes from across the island flexed their physiques at the National Cultural Centre in Sans Souci, in hopes of representing the country at the 52nd Central American & Caribbean (CAC) Championships later this month, where Saint Lucia will host the competition for the first time.
Four of the five titles were won by CAC veterans, although Shani Victorin of Mango Moon was the sole entrant in both the bikini and women’s fit model categories. At last year’s CAC competition, Victorin was a silver medallist in the women’s fit model class. She finished sixth in the bikini master over 35 category division.
Sherkym Daniel of Beyond Limits is the 2025 senior men’s bodybuilding champion, outposing the veteran Lawrence “Robocop” Stephen of Sidonie’s Brothers Gym and Shervon Lubrin of Beyond Limits. Daniel was second in the CAC men’s classic physique senior up to 175 cm in 2024, and third in the men’s bodybuilding 80 kg.
Last year in Guyana, Gratious Octave was the top Saint Lucian athlete in the men’s fitness challenge, taking bronze. This year, he entered the men’s physique short class at nationals, taking gold for Soufriere Fitness Centre. Lance Etienne from Ali-Dee’s Fitness was runner-up, ahead of Ultan Stanley of Mango Moon. Nick Cyprien (Soufriere) and Dave Lenox Roacher rounded out the competitors in that group.
The most hotly contested trophy was for men’s physique tall. Kirby Charles was a CAC bronze medallist in 2022 and a silver medallist in 2024. After impressing the local judges again this past weekend, the Mango Moon star will be keen to add to his regional medal collection on home soil. The Soufriere pair of Marshal John and Shanii Mesmain took the next two podium spots. Dwight Williams (Mango Moon), Franzo Mompremier (Sidonie’s), Levi Edward (Soufriere), and Rehani Isidore (MJL) also competed.
The 2025 CAC Championships will be held September 26th and 27th at The Pavilion in Rodney Bay. The Saint Lucia Amateur Body Building & Fitness Association is expecting approximately 250 athletes from 25 countries to participate in this Championship, all with the hope of receiving their pro cards.
