UWP Presents Full Slate of Candidates, Urges PM to ‘Ring the Bell’

“Ring the bell.” That was the resounding message from the United Workers Party (UWP) to Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre at its national public meeting held in Micoud over the weekend. With a crowd of party faithful present, the opposition, once again, called on the nation’s leader to set a date for the next general elections.

The meeting drew supporters from across the island and also served as the platform for the UWP to formally introduce and endorse its full slate of 17 candidates. The unveiling signalled the party’s readiness to contest every constituency as it seeks a return to office after a heavy defeat in the last election.

During his address, Opposition Leader and UWP Political Leader Allen Chastanet rallied supporters and declared that his team was prepared for victory.

“There is one decision that has been made clear tonight,” Chastanet said. “The United Workers Party and the people of Saint Lucia are ready for the Labour government to ring the bell.”

The candidates officially endorsed are:

  1. Allen Chastanet – Micoud South
  2. Marcella Johnson – Gros-Islet
  3. Titus Preville – Babonneau
  4. Stephen Fevrier – Castries North
  5. Peter Chiquot – Castries East
  6. Rosh Clarke – Castries Central
  7. Guy Joseph – Castries South East
  8. Tommy Descartes – Castries South
  9. Bradley Fulgence – Dennery North
  10. Benson Emile – Dennery South
  11. Elisha Norbert – Micoud North
  12. Calixte Xavier – Vieux Fort North
  13. Leanna Johannes-Paul – Vieux Fort South
  14. Laura Jn Pierre – Laborie
  15. Bradley Felix – Choiseul/Saltibus
  16. Herod Stanislas – Soufrière/Fond St. Jacques
  17. Dominic Fedee – Anse La Raye/Canaries

With its full roster now in place, the UWP has positioned itself to take on the governing Saint Lucia Labour Party. While no election date has not been announced, the opposition’s message in Micoud was unambiguous: it is ready for elections.
