From heartbreak to jubilation in the space of 12 months, the lads from Mabouya Valley roared to victory on October 4 in the Saint Lucia Football Association Under-12 Boys’ Championship. Losing finalists in 2024, the boys in blue beat Vieux Fort 3-0 on October 3rd at the SLFA Technical Centre in Grande Riviere, Dennery.
Mabouya Valley bounced back from a devastating loss in the 2024 final. They played unbeaten all season, only to fall to Canaries via penalties in the title match.
Again, the Valley heroes came into the decisive fixture on a winning streak. They had conceded just one goal all season, and led the league in goals scored.
The first half was entertaining, but goalless. Keevan Louisy finally broke the deadlock for Mabouya Valley eight minutes into the second period, netting from a rebound. Louisy ended the competition with the most goals, 15 in just eight games. It was his second season in a row leading the league in scoring.
Kerneil Louis doubled the advantage five minutes later, and Vjay Edwin completed the triumph eight minutes from time. Edwin was named most valuable player and best midfielder of the series.
The MVP of the final was Mabouya Valley goalkeeper Delville Mathurin, who produced another clean sheet. Brothers Zaied and Shawneil Willie were named the tournaments best defenders, concluding a clean sweep of the individual awards for the champions.
