Island Adventures Company Ltd captured the award for Outstanding Travel and Tourism at this year’s Caribbean Global Awards, emerging as the winner among 17 global nominees.
The company’s owner and director, Julian Adjodha, described the moment its name was announced during the ceremony, held at the Cumberland Hotel in London on September 27, as surreal.
“I felt frozen in time. They called my name and they called the company’s name—I stood up and it was like I was lost,” he recounted. “Considering the calibre of esteemed people in the room and it was being watched through media from all over the world—I was stunned.”
In a congratulatory letter to Island Adventures following the win, Caribbean Global Brand Founder and CEO Michaelene Holder-March wrote that the accolade underscored exemplary contributions to the Caribbean community and its global diaspora.
“Island Adventures stood out brilliantly among a fiercely competitive field, earning recognition for its exceptional commitment to safety, organisational development, and leadership. The glowing reviews from clients, stakeholders, and peers further highlight the transformative influence of your work,” Holder-March said.
Adjodha credited the company’s success to years of dedication, teamwork and a longstanding partnership with Sandals.
“It’s the staff that have gotten us to this point; the drivers, tour guides, office staff, management, everyone,” he told St Lucia Times. “And being with Sandals’ Island Routes (Sandals’ in-house tour brand), it’s always been like on-the-job-training…” he said, highlighting Sandals’ attitude towards customers. “They believe in excellent customer service and that the moment the customer is picked up from the airport, they are making a financial contribution and should be treated well.”
Island Adventures, which has been in operation for more than 25 years, is one of Saint Lucia’s leading tourism service providers, with a 4.9 rating and nearly 1,500 reviews on Tripadvisor, placing the company at number one amongst 87 tour and activity operators in Gros Islet.
Now in its third consecutive year, the Caribbean Global Awards celebrate Caribbean heritage and global influence while honouring outstanding performances and accomplishments of professionals from around the world across various fields.
