Boo’s Christmas spectacle delivers encore of joy

Dr Stephen King, Sir Dennis Byron, and Dame Pearlette Louisy came together on the same dance floor alongside the superb musicianship of Omari Maxwell, Arturo Tappin, and Ronald Boo Hinkson to create Christmas magic.

Hinkson’s annual Show the World – It’s Christmas concert was held in the evening of November 29 and sparkled with festive décor, themed cocktails, and a programme that carried the Christmas spirit from the main event straight through to the after-party.

The Sandals Grande ballroom welcomed guests dressed to impress — tuxedos, suits, ball gowns, and chic evening wear.

Following the cocktail reception, Hinkson took the stage with his band to thunderous applause before striking a single note. For Saint Lucians, this was royalty: their annual pilgrimage to honour the singer, songwriter, musician and producer.

The show opened with a Tru Tones rendition of Winter Wonderland, setting the tone for a night of highlights. Among them: Denisha and Denny Marshall, the brother-sister duo, who delivered Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers’ The Greatest Gift of All with all the warmth of the season. The James family offered a heartfelt Silent Night, while Arturo Tappin brought the crowd to life with Feliz Navidad.

As tradition dictates, Boo unveiled fresh talent; this year, Vincent, a poised young vocalist with remarkable range. His performance of Luther Vandross’ Every Year, Every Christmas had the sold-out venue chanting “Encore!” before the final note. Boo, smiling, gave his nod of approval.

Two other rising stars also shone: Eli on trumpet and Turro, Arturo Tappin’s son, on violin. Christa Bailey teased with a reggae groove before showcasing her stunning range on What Child Is This.

Closing the night, TC Brown needed no second invitation for the audience to dance. With Caribbean Christmas favourites, including Ras Africa’s Slice of the Pie, he captivated the crowd. His soaring voice carried the Imagination Brass classic, filling the ballroom with pure Christmas spirit, as if Santa himself had sent him.

At the after-party, fans showered Boo Hinkson with praise, lining up for photos to capture the magic of the night.
