Bernell St Rose has emerged as the new president of the Saint Lucia National Youth Council following elections at the organisation’s 18th Biennial General Assembly in Soufrière.
The assembly brought together representatives from registered youth and sports clubs, district youth and sports councils, and student councils from across Saint Lucia. Delegates convened to elect a leadership team that will guide the council at a time when young people on the island are facing increasing social, economic, and developmental challenges.
St Rose will lead the council alongside Dequan Charles, who was elected First Vice President, and Edisa Eugene, who will serve as Second Vice President. Alrica Antoine was elected General Secretary, with Marcus Giraudy taking on the role of Assistant Secretary. Phoebe Smith will serve as Public Relations Officer, while Nazan Hutchinson was elected treasurer.

Following her election, Bernell St Rose told St Lucia Times that restoring confidence in the organisation will be a central focus of her leadership.
“My key mandate is to rebuild and bring back the trust of the NYC as a uniform and credible institution, reforming the council, the district youth and sports councils, the national students councils and club affiliates,” she said. “I want to bring back the pride and trust individuals once had in the NYC.”
The newly elected executive now assumes responsibility for strengthening youth representation and engagement nationwide, as expectations grow for the council to play a more active and credible role in national development.
