A five-year-old boy died after a vehicle went off the road and crashed into a tree at Il Pirata, Vieux Fort, on Wednesday afternoon. His family and school community are now mourning the loss of one of their youngest members.
The Saint Lucia Fire Service said emergency officers responded to the crash at around 2:45 p.m.
When first responders got to the scene, they found four people involved in the crash: an adult man, an adult woman and two young boys.
The adults were treated for injuries; one child had head trauma, and the other was found with no vital signs. All four were taken to the hospital for further care.
St. Lucia Times has learned that the child who died was Kervil Lawrence, a kindergartener at Piaye Combined School.
News of his death has shocked many in the community. Friends, classmates, and loved ones are mourning a young life lost too soon.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.

Another young life lost from our community. So sad.
You know between 8:30am and 10am this morning I missed about 4 accidents. People on the side of the ride just pull off without looking first. When you blow your horn to alert them they cursing you. Driving in the middle of the road, speeding…it’s crazy. The Ministry should have everyone take road tests before renewing licenses. Because drivers are way to careless. Mini bus drivers and taxi drivers who have a higher responsibility to transoort passengers safely are amongst the worst. This society is way too indisciplined.
Really sad news! Isn’t it on that same stretch of road a child died earlier this year or late last year, and the driver was charged, Isn’t it there also that the young entrepreneur died after overtaking a vehicle and ran headlong into a mini bus! I don’t know the circumstances surrounding this accident, but I don’t think the road should be held accountable.
The occupants of the vehicle-were they secured . Most times we see the drivers with their seat belts and the children with no restraints. Please let us care about our children to have them put on their seat belts.

Always the little ones that pay the price. Too much ‘me first’ mentality on this island, everyone in a rush because they are too lazy to get up in time. Bus drivers trying to break land speed records to get another journey in, no one has the intelligence to use indicators, they pull out of side roads fully aware of oncoming traffic but expecting other drivers to make allowances. Too many times cars speed past on blind bends or the brow of a hill and you can smell the weed coming through the windows as they pass. Never them getting hurt, but their disregard for anyone else but them, and more innocent young lives are lost.
Yet again its the little ones that suffer because of adult stupidity and disregard for anyone but themselves
