Two men killed in separate shootings in Castries

Police are investigating two separate shootings in Castries on Sunday that claimed the lives of two men.

According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, 25-year-old Jamal Thomas of Belair, Castries, was killed shortly after midnight, while 56-year-old John Ferdinand, also known as “John Slade,” of Ravine Chabot, Castries, was killed later in the night.

Police said officers attached to the Marigot Police Station responded to a report of a shooting at Belair at about 12:39 a.m. They found Thomas’ lifeless body on a concrete road with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical practitioner.

In the second incident, officers attached to the Criminal Investigations Department responded to a report of a shooting at Ravine Chabot at about 11:10 p.m.

Ferdinand was found in a heavily vegetated area, with gunshot wounds. He was also pronounced dead at the scene by a medical practitioner.

The Major Crimes Unit is investigating both incidents.

Police are appealing to anyone with information that may assist with either investigation to contact the Crimes Unit at 456-3754.
