Fuel and cooking gas prices have increased slightly starting today, Monday, September 14. Gasoline now costs 50 cents more, and cooking gas has gone up by EC$2. The Office of the Prime Minister announced that these changes reflect shifts in international oil prices and the government’s use of the updated market pass-through pricing system. As a result, the retail prices of gasoline, diesel and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) have been adjusted.
The revised retail prices are as follows:
- Gasoline – from $16.75 to $17.25 per imperial gallon ($3.68 to $3.79 per litre).
- Diesel – from $16.75 to $17.25 per imperial gallon ($3.68 to $3.79 per litre).
- 20-pound LPG cylinder – from $34.00 to $36.00 per cylinder.
- 22-pound LPG cylinder – from $38.00 to $40.00 per cylinder.
- 100-pound LPG cylinder – from $288.50 to $314.88 per cylinder.
- Bulk LPG – from $2.76 to $3.02 per pound.
The retail price of kerosene remains unchanged at $10.41 per imperial gallon ($2.29 per litre).
The price changes take effect from September 14, 2026 and will apply for the three-week period ending October 4, 2026.
The Government says that it will continue to provide subsidies on petroleum products to cushion the impact of higher international prices on consumers. During this period subsidies will continue to apply to diesel, kerosene and all LPG products.
Last week Prime Minister Philip J Pierre in speaking to the press said that locally fuel prices had remained steady since last year even with the rising cost of oil on the world market. “The time is coming when Government has to review fuel at the pumps,” he said. He added that the situation internationally remains “unpredictable.”
“The Government of Saint Lucia will continue to absorb most of what we can but the time is coming where we have to look at it, because it is causing a drain on the treasury, it is causing a drain on what we can make available to the people of Saint Lucia,” Pierre pointed out.
According to the Government, this week’s price adjustments reflect movements in international crude oil and refined petroleum product prices during the reference period from August 17 to September 6, 2026. During that period, the average price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil is said to have increased by 6.7 percent to US$86.08 per barrel.
