Tourism officials are thrilled that the Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival was named “Music Festival of the Year” at the Caribbean Music Awards, held on Saturday, September 19, at the National Academy for the Performing Arts in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
The award recognises the festival’s impact on Caribbean music, culture and entertainment. It also shows how the event draws international visitors and gives regional and Saint Lucian artists a major stage.
The chairman of the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority and the jazz festival, Thaddeus M. Antoine, called the award a defining and triumphant moment for Saint Lucia.
“It affirms that our culture is one of our greatest strengths, capable of uniting our people, inspiring the region and carrying the spirit of our island onto the global stage,” he said. “We celebrate the vision, talent and dedication of everyone who continues to elevate Saint Lucian music and creativity.”
Since it began in 1992, the Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival has grown from a jazz-focused event into a wide celebration of music, visual arts, theatre, dance, fashion, food and Saint Lucian culture. Today, it brings together famous international performers, regional acts and local artists across venues and communities islandwide.
This award recognises the combined efforts of the festival’s organisers, sponsors, artists, creative professionals, community partners, vendors, volunteers, service providers and supporters.
International media coverage has also helped the festival reach more people and encourages travellers to experience Saint Lucia’s music, culture and communities for themselves.
The Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival returns from April 30 to May 9, 2027.
