Parliament to pay respects to Evaristus Jn Marie

The body of former Deputy President of the Senate Evaristus Jn Marie will lie in state at the Parliament Chamber on Friday, October 9.

Members of Parliament are expected to pay their respects between 9 a.m. and noon.

Speaker of the House of Assembly Claudius Francis made the announcement during this week’s sitting of the Lower House.

Jn Marie, a respected businessman and public figure, passed away on July 31, 2026. The cause of his death was not disclosed.

Since then, tributes have poured in from family, friends and several businesses and public institutions where he either served in leadership or made significant contributions over the years.

Friday’s lying-in-state will give members of Parliament another opportunity to honour his life and contribution to Saint Lucia.
