A nine-member team is representing Saint Lucia at this weekend’s Eastern Caribbean Golf Association (ECGA) Championships, being hosted by the Aurora International Golf Club in Anguilla. But the unit announced by Golf Saint Lucia Inc (GSLI) earlier this week is much changed from the team that won the overall title in 2025.
Only three golfers return from the squad that captured the championship in Frigate Bay, St Kitts & Nevis last year. Timothy Mangal, Eugene Edwin, and Victor Charles provide continuity – Mangal and Edwin in the Seniors category, and Charles in the Super-Seniors division.
Two individual champions miss out this year, as the roster does not include participation in the Women’s division, and there is also significant turnover in the Men’s class.
Yadhu Urs, who secured the Men’s crown, is missing from the list. Lisa Garner won the Women’s title last year, but she will not repeat. Other players not making the trip are Harith Khan, Romanus Inglis, Nicholas Beaubrun, Catherine Spooner, Britney Mangal, Andre Dhanpaul, and McHale Andrew.
The reshuffle opens the door for debutants and recalled players. Corey Devaux, Kymanie Thomas, Samuel Richelieu, and Jermille Daniel make up the Men’s quartet. Thomas and Devaux return to competition after missing the 2025 edition, while Richelieu and Daniel earn debut places. Terry Verdant returns to the Seniors lineup, taking the spot previously held by Dhanpaul. Dharmendra Shah replaces Andrew in the Super-Seniors bracket.
The ECGA Championship is a 36-hole strokeplay tournament contested over two consecutive days (18 holes per round), featuring simultaneous team and individual competitions across gross and net scoring categories. Member territories can field squads of up to 12 golfers divided into four flights: Men (under 50), Seniors (50–59), Super-Seniors (60 and older), and Women.
