Open Waters Theatre will stage its fifth major production in November, with playwright and director Tito Adams saying the cast and crew are on track to deliver the same blend of drama, comedy and stark social commentary that has characterised the company’s previous productions.
The upcoming play, A Twisted Christmas, follows a family whose Christmas gathering takes an unexpected turn when a series of revelations threaten to disrupt the holiday celebrations. Through the unfolding drama, the play will explore themes of fatherhood, parent-child relationships and infidelity.

During an interview with St Lucia Times, Adams also teased the appearance of a supernatural character, which he believes will keep audiences on their toes.
Set to be staged at the National Cultural Centre on Sunday, November 22, and Saturday, November 28, A Twisted Christmas features an ensemble cast of nine, including several recurring actors from the theatre company’s previous productions, including Tevin Auguste and Keri Franklin.
Adams said retaining familiar faces continues to be a deliberate decision, forming part of his efforts to build momentum within the growing theatre company.
“I wanted to keep the team intact for chemistry’s sake so that the chemistry portrayed on stage will come across as authentic,” he told St Lucia Times.

With its exploration of relational and societal themes, A Twisted Christmas continues a creative approach Adams has spoken about in previous conversations with St. Lucia Times. Ahead of the staging of Family Ties in 2024, he highlighted the importance of using theatre to bring attention to weighty social ills while making a positive impact and keeping the art of playmaking alive.
Now, with another major production in the works, Adams says his ambitions extend beyond staging individual plays. He hopes to eventually establish a theatre that can provide full-time employment for cast and crew.
“My aim is to build a strong theatre culture in Saint Lucia, where audiences look forward to local productions, almost like Broadway… For me, I want to give creatives an opportunity to perform and get compensation for their work”.
His most recent productions, The Chillout, staged in 2025, and Family Ties, have been well received by audiences, with Open Waters Theatre continuing to attract and retain support.
