Marigot shooting leaves one dead, two injured

Twenty-three-year-old Jessie Antoine has been confirmed as the victim of a homicide after his body was discovered beneath a house in Belair on Sunday morning.

The discovery came hours after a shooting at New Belair, Marigot, left two people with gunshot injuries. Both were taken to the Owen King EU Hospital for treatment and are reported to be in stable condition.

According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), officers attached to the Marigot Police Station responded to reports of a shooting in New Belair at about 11 p.m. on Saturday.

While conducting follow-up inquiries in the area at about 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, officers discovered Antoine’s body beneath the house. A medical practitioner later pronounced him dead.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are continuing.

The killing is the second homicide recorded in Castries South over the weekend. On Friday, 34-year-old Mervie Valcent was shot and killed in La Croix Maingot.
