Police operation nets two men wanted for extradition, two murder suspects

A coordinated police operation across four communities on Monday resulted in two men wanted for extradition in Martinique and the United States, and two other individuals suspected of murder being apprehended.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) identified the men wanted for extradition as Markel Jolie and Jermaine Joseph but did not specify which man was wanted by each country.

The two were taken before the First District Court and remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility.

Police gave no further details about the two individuals apprehended on suspicion of murder.

The operation in which the four were held began at about 2:30 a.m. on Monday, with officers executing seven search warrants at premises in Dennery, Bagatelle, Castries and Corinth, Gros Islet.

It also sought to recover illegal firearms, ammunition, controlled substances and other evidence that could assist ongoing investigations into organised criminal activity.

The RSLPF did not say whether any items or evidence were recovered
