Piton Boyz ring in the reinforcements for CNL

Six new players have been brought into the Saint Lucia men’s national football team, as head coach Rajesh Latchoo aims to close the 2026 Concacaf Nations League on a high note. With two games remaining, the Piton Boyz need six points to win Group B, earn promotion to League A, and qualify for the Gold Cup.

On November 13 and 17, Saint Lucia will play their final two group games in Guadeloupe. First, they face winless Bermuda next Friday. A week from Tuesday, with just one point separating the two at this stage, they meet Barbados at Stade Roger Zami in Gosier, for what should be a decisive fixture.

The headline addition is Bolton Wanderers centreback Chris Forino. He is in the squad after returning from injury this week, and making the English Championship Team of the Week. Joining him is former Ipswich Town defender Janoi Donacien, now at Northampton Town.

With captain Terell Thomas and Shrewsbury Town wing-back Arkell Jude-Boyd also named, the defence is well equipped to weather a recent injury to Montego Bay United player Melvin Doxilly.

The midfield gets a lift as well. Wales-based Bayan Aman of Trefelin FC comes into the squad, adding a combative presence in the centre of the park. He slots into the engine room alongside Morvant Caledonia’s Shaquan Nelson and Vieux Fort South’s Gregson President.

In attack, Reeco Hackett-Fairchild returns after two years. The Lincoln City winger last featured for Saint Lucia in November 2024 against Grenada. His return gives Latchoo direct pace and left-footed balance on the flank.

Up front, Hackett-Fairchild is expected to complement Colorado Rapids forward Donavan Phillip, Cavalry FC winger Caniggia Elva, and Kegan Caull, whose 20-minute first-half hat-trick against Bermuda ignited the campaign.

Also joining the team, and in line to make his senior debut, is Obafami Poyotte. An outstanding Under-19 striker from Vieux Fort South, he is now with Grenades FC in Antigua & Barbuda. He is joined by fellow uncapped defender Riquelme Lionel of Trinidad’s Defence Force.

To win the group, Saint Lucia will almost certainly need to win both games in the French territory. With three wins and a loss on their blotter, the Piton Boyz are second in Group B with nine points. Latchoo has been handed the tools to finish the job, and it’s all to play for away.
